Following new UK and European REACH regulations that prohibit the manufacture, import or sale of goods printed with these inks, Mimaki will end the sale of both LH-100 and LF-140 UV inksets on 31st March 2026
Next generation ink:
Mimaki has developed a next generation ink called ELH-100. This new ink has been formulated to closely match the colour and performance of LH-100, whilst removing the restricted substances found in LH-100 ink. ELH-100 inks will be available in the same sizes and formats that are currently in use.
What makes ELH-100 different?
It is SVHC-free (contains no Substances of Very High Concern).
It is CMR-free (no Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or Reprotoxic substances).
It produces around 30% less odour than standard UV inks.
It offers a colour gamut and performance very similar to LH-100.
What if I am using LF-140 ink?
You can convert to ELH-100 or to the new ELS-120 flexible ink, which will be available in early 2026
Which Mimaki printers are affected?
All Mimaki UJF Series printers running LH-100 or LF-140 inks.
Mimaki JFX200 models running LH-100 or LF-140 inks, which can be converted by the end user.
JFX500 and JFX600 models running LH-100 or LF-140 inks, which require a Hybrid engineer to perform the ink conversion
What does this mean for me?
Every Mimaki UJF printer using LH-100 or LF-140 inks will need to undergo a conversion in order to remain compliant and continue operation. This is a software driven update that can be carried out by the user. The process takes around 8 hours to complete with much of the time being unattended. During this process, Mimaki provides full warranty cover for inked parts including the printhead plus you will receive a free set of ELH-100 inks and the required media to perform the conversion.
If you are currently using LF-140 inks, you can choose to convert to ELH-100 or to a new flexible ink, ELS-120 which will be introduced in early 2026.
Customers using LH-100 Clear will be supported with a transition to ELH-100 Clear.
In order to ensure a smooth and supported process, customers need to book an ink changeover slot with Hybrid Services. Once this has been booked, you will receive the link to the software tool, supporting information and the ink and media required to perform the conversion.
Can I trade in my current printer instead of converting?
Yes! An attractive trade-in programme for Mimaki UJF owners is available, allowing customers to upgrade their device rather than complete the conversion. It is important to discuss a trade-in prior to booking your ink conversion date, as trade in options are limited to machines that have not undergone the changeover process. Speak to the YPS team on 0191 256 6889 to discuss available machine options.
What next?
The move to Mimaki ELH-100 inks is a necessary step to comply with upcoming REACH and UK REACH legislation, to allow you to continue to sell your printed items within the UK and Europe. By planning early, you can ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption. LH-100 and LF-140 inks will not be available from 31st March 2026. Information will be sent directly from Hybrid Services, Mimaki's UK distributor, to those affected to advise on both the ink conversion and trade in options. Mimaki UJF owners with LH-100 and LF-140 inks are advised to plan ahead by either booking in an ink conversion or speak with YPS regarding a machine trade in.
