Hybrid to unveil further new Mimaki machines at The Print Show

New Mimaki solvent technology JV300Plus available at Your Print Specialists

The Print Show will play host to the worldwide premier of the brand new Mimaki JV300Plus Series super-fast wide-format solvent printer and the CJV300Plus Series integrated printer/cutter, as Brett Newman, Chief Operations Manager at Hybrid Services reveals; “We are delighted to be able to wow visitors to The Print Show with the global launch of these two next-generation products from Mimaki that have a number of additional features and benefits that we are certain will impress the market.”

Available at 1.6m wide, both the Mimaki CJV300Plus and JV300Plus are set to dramatically reduce waste with the introduction of new 600ml ink bags that are simply placed within a reusable eco cartridge, which comes as a welcome introduction with the increasing focus of the industry on improving environmental standards. “Not only will these 600ml ink bags increase the green credentials of the Mimaki range, they will significantly reduce ink costs, providing greater profitability to print providers,” continues Newman.

The Mimaki CJV300Plus Series printer/cutter features a new ID Cut function to make printing and cutting easier and faster. The barcode, read by the registration mark sensor on the CJV300Plus printer/cutter, contains cutting and rotation information allowing the machine to automate the cutting process. This function is particularly useful when running nested print-cut jobs, as the cutter continuously reads the data for both single and combined jobs.

Other enhancements include a production mode for blasting through high-speed print runs and the latest Mimaki core technologies, including Mimaki Advanced Pass System (MAPS4) ensure seamless functionality and consistently high-quality prints. Further additions include increased weight capacity on the take-up unit and improved media feeding accuracy and correction, opening up a variety of heavier-weight and thicker media.

The new Mimaki JV300Plus Series and CJV300Plus Series are accompanied by a further new global first: the release of the brand new Mimaki CG-FXIIPlus cutter, which also houses the new ID Cut function utilising barcodes for error reduction, increased efficiency and a 25% increase in cutting pressure.

Making its European debut at The Print Show is the brand new Mimaki SWJ-320EA super-wide solvent printer. “This is a great opportunity for visitors to have first eyes on this high-speed and quality printer that is anticipated to take the large format indoor and outdoor markets by storm,” states Newman. The Print Show will also play host to the first public presentation of the new Mimaki JFX200-2513EX 8’ x 4’ flatbed LED UV printer. Thanks to a new print head configuration, the JFX200-2513EX doubles output speeds when printing with white ink in all print modes and with the addition of a new draft mode, a 280% speed increase, resulting in a maximum speed of 35sq metres per hour.

“The Mimaki JFX200 is the flatbed of choice for many reasons,” Newman remarks. “The new model is faster and even easier to use and looks set to continue the range’s dominance in the sector.”

Hybrid will also present Mimaki’s multi-award winning UCJV Series LED UV printer/cutters that offer a highly versatile solution for print professionals looking for a creative and productive edge, along with the popular, award-winning Mimaki UJF-3042MkII for direct-to-object printing and a selection of other Mimaki technology.

Hybrid launches innovative new Mimaki SWJ-320EA super-wide eco-solvent printer at The Print Show

Hybrid launches innovative new Mimaki SWJ-320EA super-wide eco-solvent printer at The Print Show Mimaki’s UK and Irish distributor, Hybrid Services is set to reveal the brand new Mimaki SWJ320EA super-wide eco-solvent printer for its European debut at The Print Show, following the machine’s global launch at FESPA Africa 2019. Addressing the demanding, dynamic and pricesensitive super-wide format printing market, this highly productive 3.2m wide printer offers an unmatched ratio of top print quality, fast printing speed and reliability at a very accessible price.

New Mimaki SWJ-320EA super-wide eco-solvent printer at Your Print Specialists

“The exciting arrival of the Mimaki SWJ-320EA in time for The Print Show next week is a great opportunity for visitors to have first eyes on this high-speed and quality printer that we anticipate will take the large format indoor and outdoor markets by storm,” comments Hybrid’s Chief Operations Manager, Brett Newman

Following successful sales progression in price-sensitive markets, such as Turkey, Russia and the Middle East, the SWJ-320EA is now available for the entire EMEA region. “Addressing the needs of the highly competitive wide format market, the SWJ-320EA represents an important business differentiator for customers,” says Bert Benckhuysen, Senior Product Manager EMEA, Mimaki Europe. “Combining a high level of efficiency and low operational costs with a very competitive price for the hardware and the inks, the SWJ-320EA makes a much more costeffective choice for investment.”

Building on the legacy of Mimaki innovation, the SWJ-320EA super-wide solvent printer includes Mimaki core technologies, namely MAPS4 (Mimaki Advanced Pass System) and NRS (Nozzle Recovery System). MAPS4 helps prevent banding during the printing process. With every pass, MAPS4 uses a unique algorithm that calculates the most effective way of jetting the ink drops to avoid visible banding. This constantly changes depending on ink colour, coverage and printing speed. This feature, alongside NRS – which ensures the replacement of blocked nozzles without stopping production – enhances the printer’s performance and boosts productivity and print quality for the user. For further production benefits, the SWJ-320EA is equipped with four advanced high-speed printheads arranged in a staggered array ensuring resolutions of up to 1,200dpi and print speeds at up to 137m²/h.

Offering established world-class Mimaki speed, quality and reliability in a super-wide format, the SWJ-320EA is equipped with an extremely stable media feeding system and a newly designed tension bar. These features prevent the media from cockling and ensure high grip for extremely accurate printing, resulting in steady, premium print quality, even for larger prints. For those requiring higher volumes, a twin-roll printing function is available as an optional feature, enabling the printer to handle up to two rolls (with maximum width of 1,524mm each) and resulting in double-volume production for smaller rolls per day.

Designed to enable users to diversify their businesses in a profitable way, the Mimaki SWJ320EA is ideal for producing a wide variety of large format indoor and outdoor applications, including POS materials, banners and billboards, displays, transport and floor images. Diversification will also be driven by a wide and varied range of compatible substrates, such as self-adhesive PVC film, photo paper, billboard paper, blue-back, backlit film, banner materials and tarpaulin, to name a few. The SWJ-320EA uses Mimaki CS100 eco-solvent based ink – available in CMYK configuration and with a capacity of 3 litres per colour. The new inks have been developed to ensure lower consumption and increased weather and scratch resistance.

The Print Show runs from 17th – 19th September. Although YPS will not be exhibiting the team will be on hand should you wish to have a face to face and discuss anything Mimaki! Call now on 0191 256 6889 to arrange your appointment to see the SWJ-320EA with a member of the YPS team.

Your Print Specialists returns to Sign & Digital UK with a Textile Printing Demonstration and Upholstery Workshop featuring BBC’s Anthony Devine

Your Print Specialists (YPS) returns to Sign & Digital UK 2019 with a focus on digital textile printing and interior decor.

YPS is pleased to announce that Anthony Devine, Founder and Creative Director of Ministry of Upholstery and star of BBC’s Money for Nothing programme, will be bringing his pioneering upholstery school to YPS on Stand E2 at this year’s Sign and Digital UK exhibition. Devine will be holding live workshops throughout each day to demonstrate how accessible upholstery production can be, with printed fabrics produced using Mimaki digital textile print technology.
Ministry of Upholstery Anthony Devine

A champion for digitally printed textiles, Devine’s Ministry of Upholstery was formed in 2013 and is located in Manchester. The school features a large, well equipped workshop space and enables individuals to learn upholstery skills and create a bespoke piece of furniture featuring their own personalised fabric. “Ministry of Upholstery is a modern upholstery school and we’re pioneering a new way of learning, which is accessible, flexible and inclusive,” states Devine, who previously outsourced printing for several years before finally taking the plunge and purchasing a Mimaki TS300-1800 printer and heat transfer press through Mimaki Authorised Reseller Partner, YPS.

“We are delighted to host Anthony on our stand at Sign & Digital UK 2019,” says Georgia Brown, YPS Sales Director. “Making our customers aware of new technology, materials and the opportunities they create is a responsibility we take very seriously, and we can see this echoed in the ethos of Ministry of Upholstery. Anthony is a fantastic ambassador for embracing personalised digital textile print for the home décor market.”

Brown continues, “The potential within the textile home décor market is hugely exciting and is indicative of the emerging, progressive technology in digital print. Furniture, bedding and soft furnishings are just a small example of products driven by e-commerce, low manufacturing costs and the rise in the production of a wide choice of digitally printable, durable fabrics.”

At Sign & Digital UK, Devine will be showcasing the power of digital print from artwork creation to finished furniture. Using several of his TV designs, he will be demonstrating various upholstery processes and working on several projects to include a chair inspired by the Mona Lisa, the art of deep buttoning and more. On the YPS stand, he will be discussing how he took some of his most talked-about designs from idea to realisation and why digital print has always been – and continues to be – his preferred tool, when it comes to creating cutting edge design.

“Digital textile print is an exciting route to new business and profitability,” states Brown. “With the advent of digital textile innovations and improvements in technology, the market is changing rapidly. With the lower cost of production through affordable print technology, inks and a wider choice of fabrics, small companies can now cost effectively print on demand.”

“Digitally printed textiles are expected to grow three-fold globally in the next 5 years and the market sector is worth over $20 billion, of which an estimated 3-5% is currently digital,” she continues. “As a company, YPS is keen to support new and existing businesses looking to make the move into the digitally printed textile market and our stand at Sign & Digital UK reflects this,” concludes Brown.

Mimaki expands creative possibilities with launch of new Metallic UV Ink

Mimaki UJF-7151 Metallic UV Ink

Mimaki Europe has announced that it will release a UV-curable metallic ink, named MUH-100-Si in February 2019. The new ink strengthens Mimaki’s product offering and pushes the boundaries of graphic expression beyond that of ordinary UV flatbed inkjet printers. The ink is compatible with Mimaki’s UJF-7151plus printer, which produces high-quality print for an impressive range of applications, from gifts and novelty items to wide-format boards.

The new MUH-100-Si UV-curable metallic ink will bring a strong competitive edge to Mimaki customers, allowing them to provide added value to the brands who use their services. Supporting Mimaki’s ideology of “new technology for creating the next generation of digital printing”, the new ink demonstrates how digital print enables creative ideas to be realised highly efficiently in the product manufacturing process. Whilst metallic effects on printed products typically require further processing and manual handling after printing, Mimaki will demonstrate the new ink at the C!Print exhibition in France in February and visitors will see how the new technology can be used to produce impactful prints.
Bert Benckhuysen, Senior Product Manager, Mimaki Europe comments:

“We are very excited to launch this metallic ink and have the opportunity to display it at C!Print in Lyon. At Mimaki we dedicate ourselves to providing customers with products that will allow them to stand out within their markets. Not only will the new metallic ink ensure this, but it will also provide a much more efficient way for our customers to manufacture more luxurious and sophisticated products.”

Created by mixing a bright pigment into the ink, MUH-100-Si can place metallic ink directly onto the product without the need for a separate manual transfer process, as is the case when applying glitters or foils to produce a metallic effect. Decorative options such as printing both gloss and matte tones, texture expression with embossing effect, and full-colour metallic expressions can be achieved in-house by printing coloured ink overlaid on metallic ink.
Available for use with the UJF-7151plus printer, the metallic UV ink can be used for a wide range of applications, including items such as paper containers, films and novelty items. Mimaki is exclusively distributed in the UK and Ireland by Hybrid Services and the company’s Chief Operations Manager, Brett Newman comments,

“With the UJF-7151plus already widely used for creating high end print applications, the addition of the metallic ink opens up considerable revenue-enhancing possibilities in the luxury and bespoke sectors.”

Benckhuysen concludes, “Broadening our range of inks really helps our customers to optimize the use of their Mimaki printers and differentiate themselves from competitors. Delivering new creative possibilities whilst maintaining the same high quality and reliability that we pride ourselves on, helps our customers’ businesses to thrive and helps the brands they work with to stand out from the crowd.”

Mimaki announces new CF22-1225 Flatbed Cutting Plotter

Mimaki CF22-1225 Flatbed Cutting Plotter at Your Print Specialists

Mimaki has announced the launch of the Mimaki CF22-1225 flatbed cutting plotter. The new cutting solution handles materials as large as 1220 x 2440mm and is the ideal complement to the Mimaki JFX200-2513 for one demand production of seasonal POP displays or exhibit components.

These two machines make a complete print and cut workflow for creating custom packaging or prototypes with the addition of ArtiosCAD Designer Solution software. Together, these three components will set sign and display graphics professionals on the path to delivering more profitable short run, print and cut jobs.

“We have brought to bear our extensive knowledge of cutting solutions in the development of the new CF22-1225 cutting table,” says Ronald Van den Broek, General Manager Sales at Mimaki Europe. “Combined with the JFX200-2513 flatbed UV inkjet printer and ArtiosCAD, this offering is an ideal end-to-end solution for cutting and creasing coated cardboard, as well as reciprocating cutting of foam material used for packing.”

Van den Broek continues, “In addition, Mimaki UV LED inks can print on a variety of materials, including uncoated substrates, with vibrant full-colour results. Whether organisations are developing sophisticated short-run signs and display graphics, creating packaging mock-ups or samples, handling special requests for small lot furniture, or simply creating and producing designs on demand, this solution will not disappoint. It enables businesses to deliver high-value, high-margin premium services. At the same time, the solution can reduce the need to turn down projects or outsource work.”

The latest version of the widely used Mimaki RasterLink RIP software includes an ID Cut function to make printing and cutting easier and faster. In addition to registration marks, RasterLink6 plus software can include a barcode on the print. This barcode, read by the crop mark sensor on the CF22-1225, contains cutting and rotation information allowing the automation of the cutting process. This function is particularly useful when running nested print-cut jobs, as the cutter continuously reads the data for both single and combined jobs.

RasterLink6 plus software also includes the FineCut plug-in for Adobe Illustrator, allowing a convenient print preview to minimise errors prior to the print-and-cut operation. In addition, a wide variety of selectable cutting tools allows cutting of industrial materials such as acrylic, foam and rubber with a thickness of up to 55 mm.

“By implementing the complete print-and-cut workflow, companies will be able to process orders, from design through finishing, in a highly integrated manner,” comments John de la Roche of Mimaki’s UK & Ireland distributor, Hybrid Services. “Customers can be confident that their service provider can produce high quality, short-run and fully designed packaging or signs & display graphics.”

The Mimaki CF22-1225 is expected to be available at the end of 2017.

The Print Show: YPS Review

Lets all go to…The Print Show!

The second week in October saw the majority of the UK’s printing community flock to Telford for The Print Show, Print Monthly’s annual show focused on all things print.

Welcome to The Print Show

Telford International Centre was the destination for The Print Show this year, a change from the shows usual home of the NEC Birmingham.

YPS made the journey down from Newcastle to exhibit at the show with a focus on Mimaki hardware and their applications. Continuing our theme of Think It, Print It, Profit, we wanted to showcase the wide range of applications that can be achieved using Mimaki equipment and inspire visitors that visited the stand.YPS at The Print Show

The Long Drop…and more

To coincide with the theme, we utilised features that are available on the Mimaki UJF-3042 MkII LED UV flatbed to create ‘The Long Drop’ bar/brewery theme. The Long Drop is a nifty feature that allows printing on curved surfaces to a degree without the need for a rotary/kebab, which is perfect for small print runs and bespoke, personalised items. We created our own bar with pumps, produced sample beer pump clips, bottles, labels and promotional merchandise all branded with The Long Drop. We also utilised the varnish to create stunning spot uv finishes that are a powerful add on when selling print.

Print and Cut at The Print Show

The Mimaki CJV150-130 integrated print and cut with orange ink installed offered a rich vibrancy and allows for a 95% Pantone to process colour match from having this ink configuration installed. A wonderful benefit if making the move from litho to digital print. Labels for our Long Drop Blonde were printed then cut on the CJV150-130 easily. Alongside vibrant poster prints that showcased the ink configuration, the capabilities of the CJV series were evident.

Mimaki UCJV150-160…sold!

One of the highlights of The Print Show for YPS was being the first Mimaki reseller to sell the new UCJV150-160 LED UV roll to roll printer. George Dowd from Printmaster in Gateshead travelled down to the show to see the new printer in action on Hybrid Services, Mimaki’s UK distributors stand. YPS MD Garry signed the deal there and then with George after an impressive demonstration.

Mimaki Flatbed Partners: UJF-3042 MkII and CFL-605RT

Mimaki UJF-3042 MkII UV printer and CFL-605RT plotter: A match made in flatbed heaven.

If you visited our stand at Sign and Digital UK this year, you will have seen Your Print Specialists demonstrate the latest flatbed printer from Mimaki in the form of the UJF-3042 MkII and the flatbed plotter model CFL-605RT. You may have even taken away one of our print and cut sample boxes filled with sweets! The flatbed print and cut options from Mimaki make the perfect partnership when it comes to prototype packaging.

Mimaki Flatbed Print and Cut

Mimaki UJF-3042 MkII LED UV Flatbed Printer

This printer is an update to the popular UJF-3042 range and replaces the existing HG model. The A3 bed size can allow objects up to 153mm depth to be printed. Using Adobe Illustrator we created artwork for the treat box, based on a traditional popcorn box and branded in the YPS colour scheme. Finecut software, which is supplied with the flatbed cutter, allows us to place registration marks on to the design. The design was printed onto 250gsm white card using the MkII and RIP software Rasterlink 6.

Mimaki CFL-605RT Flatbed Cutting Plotter

The entry level flatbed cutting plotter from Mimaki features a 610 x 510 mm cutting area and several tools for a range of cutting options. For our treat box, we used the creasing roller and eccentric cutter. There are also tangential and reciprocating cutter options for thicker boards and soft foam materials respectively. Using the Finecut plugin for illustrator, we can set the flatbed cutter to crease and then cut the card. Presets can be set up for those jobs that require the same material, which is great if you produce a lot of prototype packaging work. Our cut and crease lines are distinguishable by colour which allows for easy assignment when using Finecut. For our treat box sample, we used cyan for the crease tool and magenta to cut. The vacuum bed keeps in the card in place whilst the crease roller and cutter do their work. The result is a perfect net ready to construct and hold lots of treats.
