Meet the YPS team – Laura

As the YPS team grows and continues to develop to keep up with business demands, over the last two years our team has grown and reshaped to develop as a company.

Meet Laura, our Digital Marketing Assistant. Laura runs the day-to-day marketing, from social media & blog posts to maintaining our website.

How long have you been working at YPS?

I started at YPS in early March 2020 and after a couple of months of working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was happy to get back to the office and start working with the team!

How did you get into the print industry?

Through my search for a role in marketing. I had finished my marketing degree and done a year in an office-based role but knew I wanted to get into marketing in an interesting industry! On my search I found YPS advertising for a Digital Marketing Assistant, I did some research on YPS and it opened my eyes to print as a market.

What do you do in your role?

My digital marketing assistant position consists of a range of duties! I write blog posts on new machines, run our YPS social media accounts, track our e-commerce website orders, communicate with our database via e-shots and keep our website up to date on new products.

I have taken a particular interest in dye sublimation. YPS supplies Epson dye-sub printers and has developed an ‘Introduction to dye sublimation’ course as part of their Your Print Institute (YPI) which I teach.

YPS also had a dye-sub dedicated stand at this year's Sign & Digital UK which introduced me to the world of print expeditions.

What has surprised you about the print industry?

The opportunities! When I first applied for this role and interviewed with my line manager, Lauren and Managing Director, Georgia, I didn't think two years later I’d be at the Woman’s Scottish Open with Epson, going to Sign & Digital UK at the NEC earlier this year, accepting the IPIA Innovation Masterclass award for our YPI and working with Barclays Eagle Labs to introduce print to the next generation studying at Newcastle College. I am grateful for the opportunities YPS has given to me and look forward to our next travels to the Craft and Create expo in Glasgow this October!

What has been your biggest achievement in your role with YPS?

Sharing the print industry with the next generation. YPS developed YPI before I began with the company, however, I now teach our Introduction to Dye Sublimation course. I recently taught the course to students from New College Durham and Newcastle College, to be able to share our print skills and knowledge with students who could be the next generation of printmakers is special to me and important to YPS’ ethos.

What do you do with your spare time?

I have recently moved into my new home and bought a puppy, so how I spend my spare time outside of YPS is changing, from living with my parents to being excited about things like a new hoover and spending evenings walking my new puppy, Monty.
