New appointments for the YPS Team

YPS Team - Consumable Champion Lauren

The last 6 months have seen Your Print Specialists grow in size as a business and also expand their workplace. It seemed only right that the YPS team grew too with the appointment of a new Consumables Salesperson and a new Engineer.

Lauren Parker joined the YPS team in November and is the friendly voice on the other end of the phone when you order consumables and ink. Having worked previously in a customer service role in the travel industry, Lauren has jumped into the print industry with both feet.

“I came from a travel background, so from working overseas and being a travel agent where I would pretty much just book Benidorm day in day out, I’m excited to be joining such an impressive company as there is always new things developing to go and see/learn about as the industry is growing all the time. Garry and Georgia give me the opportunity to visit customers and exhibitions and learn more about the print industry. Until I worked here I never even thought about how printed items were produced and it’s interesting to learn how.”

As well as an addition to the Sales team, there is also a new addition to the Service Department, with Tony Murray joining the team as a Field Engineer. The YPS Service team is headed by Service Manager Paul Shorton. Paul comments “We’re delighted to welcome Tony to the team. Another engineer allows us to expand our service offering and improve our response to customer issues, minimising downtime.” Tony joins us from a print engineering background with over 20 years service and will primarily be focused on Mimaki support and service.

If you have a consumable enquiry or require service and support for you machine, please contact the team on 0191 256 6889 or via our contact form.

Work Experience Week at YPS

At YPS we are always keen to inspire and educate the next generation about the printing industry as a possible career path. We were delighted to host Lewis for a week of work experience at YPS which included customer visits, working to a brief and the design and printing of samples. Read all about Lewis’ week below:

My work experience with the team at YPS was a real eye opener into the printing industry and how interesting and fulfilling it can be. From learning about screen stretching, to understanding software and how to work the digital print machines within the demo room.

My experience overall was very enjoyable, due to the very friendly team giving me detailed training on complex machines and software, and helping me out at every opportunity when I may have got stuck. As the week developed, I became more confident using the machines by myself and completing tasks correctly. Also, my confidence with using the software was strengthened further when experimenting with different designs and ideas that I had come up with myself.

My view on the industry have definitely changed, as now I feel like it is an industry that in the future I would like to pursue a career in, as there are so many interesting components to it. With the endless possibilities now with the vast technology that is available I feel like the print industry is well and truly on the up, and something I would like to be part of. I also feel that YPS is the perfect place to complete work experience, due to trust being put into you regarding using machinery. Furthermore, the system within the team is very effective and it is clear to see why the company is so successful and is a very friendly and pleasant place to work.

The standout points for me was the feeling of satisfaction when being able to work the software and to print an item that you had been working on. I also liked the challenge of moving from the Roland TrueVIS VG2 printer and printing images to the Mimaki UJF-3042mkII where I was able to personalise different items which presented a different type of challenge. Another point I enjoyed was learning how to screen-stretch and learning the different stages of how to do it and what it would be used for.

One thing that I wish I had been able to do was learn more about the textile side to the business and how to print onto fabrics and other different materials, however I am certain that in the coming weeks I will be able to complete more work experience and be able to learn more about this to gain a better understanding.

I want to say thank you to the team at YPS for welcoming me into the team and allowing me to come in and learn more about the company and the industry itself.
