Pantone Colour of the Year 2017: Greenery

Pantone Colour of the Year 2017 - Greenery

A fresh start…Greenery is colour of the year 2017

2016 will no doubt be remembered for being the year that we lost a host of iconic figures, dreadful terrorist attacks, Donald Trump being elected president and the UK making the decision to leave the EU. So it seems only fitting that the Pantone Colour of the Year is Greenery; a revitalising shade, heralding in a fresh start and the new year.

Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalise, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.

Rejuvenate and Revitalise…

2016 saw Rose Quartz and Serenity named as joint colours of the year. A bold, almost controversial move for Pantone. For 2017 Pantone returns to tradition with one colour. Leaning towards the bolder end of the spectrum when compared to 2016’s choices, Greenery is all about starting afresh. The tangy colour is both neutral and calming yet full of hope and rejuvenation for the coming year. The colour has already been seen on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2017 from the likes of Balenciaga, Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta. Green is symbolic with freshness, energy and innovation making it an excellent choice for graphic design applications and digital start ups too. We think its an inspired choice for 2017.
